Having kept bees since 1980, I am now on the path to produce and maintain honeybee stock that is not dependent on CHEMICALS to keep them alive. The last place we need chemicals is within our honeybee colonies.
My "Survivor Stock" is derived from carefull selection of VSH behavior observed over the years in my New World Carniolan queens. Mite population is monitored using 24 hour mite drop average. I ceased using acaricides for Varroa Mites in 2003.
I will be adding new genetic material to my gene pools this year after carefull evaluation of different lines.
All queens are marked by color of breeder lines.
I do select for gentle progeny, as well. Gentle bees are pure pleasure to work with! And this is a very important behavior for new and urban beekeepers.
